DeployCo Timeline: The AI Deployment Push of 2026

Between February and October 2026 the two leading AI labs, the largest cloud provider and several of the world's biggest private equity firms committed more than $6.5 billion to forward deployed engineering ventures. This page lists the events in order with dates and sources, including the background events in 2024 and 2025 that set them up. Where announcement and launch dates differ, both are shown.

Reading the timeline

Three patterns stand out.

Announcement and launch are separate events. Anthropic's venture was announced 05-04-2026, bought its operating team on 05-21-2026 and got its name on 07-15-2026. OpenAI's was announced and launched on 05-11-2026, with its founding acquisition still subject to regulatory approval. Pages on this site show both dates where they differ.

Capital was raised against lab valuations approaching $1 trillion. Anthropic's $965 billion post-money valuation (05-28-2026) and its S-1 filing (10-26-2026) frame the deployment ventures as part of a push to show durable enterprise revenue ²¹²². See Market and Economics.
